First Day at Job – Inspired by Kala Maushi
First impressions always last. That is why you need to make the right mark on your first day at work.
Heard it from someone and this is something which is right too.
We feel excited – nervous – happy – ready to make an impression – ready to give our best
Now being a psychologist, many times people – especially new – joiners ask me this thing, what to keep in mind on our first day at job. So,I thought, let me prepare a piece on it and while I was thinking what to write, my newly hired cook – Kala Maushi gave me wonderful ideas – Yes, you heard it right my cook!
Trust me, whether you are a taking up a job at a junior or a senior level, in any sector – soft skills matter more then hard core skills and technical know – hows. Because after all, we are humans and if we know how to collaborate with each- other, we are going to successful.
So sharing with you my pointers of first day at the job inspired by Kala Maushi
- Be on time – so I had multiple client calls and I was wondering if she will be on time nad bingo, she was. Never disappointed me unlike some other prior experiences. That accounted for my first smile.
- Meet & Greet – that was perfect from Kala Maushi, she greeted me warmly and so as to my family members too. It was a radiant, confident and jovial greet.
- The other thing I liked about her was that she was ready to explore and ready for the goof – ups too. She asked me several questions and I was happy to answer all. Showed me her keen interest and inclination and the inquisitiveness towards work which is well, highly appreciated in any employee.
- Another thing was that she was really creative- ready to pitch in her ideas to merge with the traditional norms of my place – what I got was some yummy old dishes with new taste. That was really refreshing!!
- I also liked her neat and clean attire – she looked professional and appropriate for the job.
- She carried all her important documents for submission to show me once and man!! that was good!! for the first day, instead of me following for her document even once.
- I liked her organization skills too – she used so many things but everything still looked organized
- Last but the not the least she was ready to adapt her skills as per my place and was keen to know everything about my family’s taste just like they say na, identify your goals, in the same manner, she was actually trying to identify the taste related goals of my home.
I hope you all will like the ideas which Kala Maushi gave me. Happy to share with you all.
